A Port Byron woman is now charged in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident she was involved in last November in Onondaga County.
21-year-old Kaitlyn Kudla was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she lost control of her car on West Seneca Turnpike in Onondaga on November 3rd. A passenger, 22-year-old Riley Besner, died ten days following the crash from injuries he suffered in the accident.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Kudla was arrested Wednesday on the following charges:
- PL 125.14 (Class B Felony) – Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
- PL 125.12 (Class D Felony) – Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree
- PL 120.05 (Class D Felony) – Assault: Recklessly Causing Serious Injury with a Weapon (Motor Vehicle)
- VTL 1192.2 (Unclassified Misdemeanor) – Operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC of .08% or Higher (First Offense)
- VTL 1212 (Unclassified Misdemeanor) – Reckless Driving
- VTL 1128(a) (Infraction) – Moving from Lane Unsafely
Kudla was arraigned and posted bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
