A Port Byron man has been arrested in connection with a fraud investigation involving an Auburn non-profit.
Auburn Police say the investigation, which began on July 11, focused on 38-year-old Justin Pendleton, who worked for Nick’s Ride as a peer support advocate for inmates at the Cayuga County Jail. Police allege that over a period of about five months, Pendleton submitted fraudulent time sheets, resulting in $2,800 in unauthorized pay.
Pendleton was arrested over the weekend and charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records, both felonies.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
