A Canandaigua man was charged with a felony in Yates County after being observed by Sheriff’s Deputies driving at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Deputies were able to pull over 24-year-old James Bell, who showed signs of impairment and intoxication. Bell was placed through standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody. A further investigation revealed Bell was allegedly in possession of a firearm, brass knuckles, and a switchblade.
Due to having a previous DWI conviction within the last ten years, Bell was charged with felony DWI, along with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and a single count of consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
