Police: Tompkins County Contractor Accused of Taking Money Without Finishing Project

State Police and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a local contractor on felony charges of grand larceny and scheming to defraud charges. The investigation into 44-year-old Orion Parker Megivern began in August of 2022.

The investigation found that Parker Megivern entered into agreements with customers for HVAC-type installations, and after receiving down payments, either never started the agreed-upon work or completed only a minimal amount of work without finishing. The investigation covered incidents dating to September 2019 and included 13 separate complainants.

Parker Megivern was arraigned in the Tompkins County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and released pending further proceedings.
