More trouble for a Wayne County man after a probation check at his home allegedly turned up a firearm.
According to State Police, a Wayne County Probation Office was conducting a routine check at the home of Gregg Pottorff in Newark on Monday when he reportedly observed a loaded Hatfield Gun Company single-shot shotgun in plain view. A further investigation revealed the firearm had been reported stolen from a home in the village of Newark in August of 2020.
Pottorff was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor. He remains jailed following his arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
