Police: Newark Man Arrested After Driving Into “Large Pile of Dirt”

A Newark man faces a number of charges following an investigation into a property damage accident Saturday night in the town of Lyons.

Gavin Norsen is accused of driving off a road and into a large pile of dirt. After determining he was intoxicated through a Standardized Field Sobriety test, police placed the 20-year-old into custody and brought him to the Wayne County Jail for processing. After refusing to submit to a chemical test, Norsen is accused of attempting to slip out of his handcuffs. He was charged with obstructing governmental administration, driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, and making an unsafe lane change.

Following a brief physical altercation with sheriff’s deputies, Norsen was brought to the Wayne County Jail following a brief physical altercation.
