Two arrests have been made in connection with last Monday afternoon’s robbery of the Savannah Bank branch on Main Street in Port Byron.
Last Tuesday, a search warrant was executed at 2 Seneca Street in the village of Port Byron and as a result 58-year-old Weldon Malone, Junior, of Auburn, was charged with felony robbery and grand larceny. It was during the course of this investigation that State Police learned of a second suspect.
On Friday, Troopers responded to Dilaj’s Motor Inn in Auburn and took 48-year-old Brandon Millhoff into custody. Millhoff was also charged with robbery and grand larceny, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Both men were brought to Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment.
State Police were assisted by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Auburn Police Department, Port Byron Police Department and New York State Parole. State Police also wanted to thank the public for their assistance with the investigation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
