SHARE NOW

An Ithaca man was allegedly found to be in possession of a stolen AR-15-style rifle during a traffic stop in Seneca County.

The arrest of 27-year-old Mujahidden Bin-Yamin stemmed from a traffic stop in the town of Fayette. Upon further roadside investigation by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Bin-Yamin was allegedly found to be driving with a suspended license. In addition to the stolen rifle, police say they also found a loaded high-capacity 30-round magazine.

Bin-Yamin was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, weapon, and stolen property. Bin-Yamin was taken to the Seneca County Jail to await CAP Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
