Police: Ithaca Man Arrested After Accidentally Shooting Himself

SHARE NOW

An Ithaca man is facing criminal charges after he accidentally shot himself in the toe.

State Police say the incident happened shortly before 5 o’clock on the morning of October 16th at a residence on Lake Country Avenue in the Town of Dryden. By the time State Police had made it to the scene, Jacub Hemingway had been taken by car to a nearby hospital. An investigation at the scene revealed that the 21-year-old had three firearms and did not possess a pistol permit. It is also alleged he had a pair of brass knuckles.

Hemingway was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
