Upon deputies interviewing the residents of the home, it was discovered that a woman had a domestic relationship with Thompson and there was an extensive history of domestic violence between them that included an Order of Protection that was in place protecting her her from the 34-year-old suspect.

It was also discovered that Thompson was on probation due to a previous arrest.

It was also reported to deputies that Thompson had been acting erratically and was possibly under the influence of drugs during this incident. It was further reported that Thompson had allegedly entered the garage area and attempted to break down a door to a room using a hatchet.

Thompson was eventually taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief, and criminal contempt, both misdemeanors and aggravated family offense, a felony.

Following his arraignment, Thompson was sent to Cayuga County Jail without bail.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
