Cocaine, a handgun, and several thousand dollars of cash were seized in Auburn as part of an investigation by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
According to investigators, they have been investigating Walter Leonard Jr for the illegal possession, sale, and distribution of narcotics in Cayuga County.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed Monday at Leonard’s Auburn residence in connection to a narcotics investigation. 43.8 grams of cocaine, a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and over $5,000 in US currency were seized.
The 45-year-old was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, all felonies.
Leonard was taken to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force is composed of members of the New York State Police, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Auburn Police Department.
