Bath Police have charged a village woman with aggravated cruelty to animals after officers discovered a dog that had been left to die in an apartment on Howell Street.
On November 12, officers responded to the residence following a report of a deceased dog. Police say they found a pit bull mix locked inside a crate with no access to food or water. Investigators believe the dog had been left unattended for several weeks. A full bag of dog food was located just two feet from the crate, according to police.
The investigation determined that 30-year-old Kassidy Hall had moved out of the apartment and left the dog behind. Hall was arrested last Friday and charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals. She was arraigned and released on an appearance ticket.
Bath Police reminded residents that help is available for anyone who is unable to care for their pets and encouraged people to reach out before abandoning an animal.
This is the second similar incident in Bath within a month. On October 4, police discovered the remains of another pit bull in a Rumsey Street apartment under similar circumstances. In that case, 23-year-old Zachariah Hill was also charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
