Police have arrested a Bath man for allegedly stealing equipment worth more than $1,000 from the home of a person who recently passed away.
William Schaffer is accused of taking the equipment from a home in the town of Camp Bell. The 56-year-old was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was allegedly found to have a suspected amount of methamphetamine on him.
Following his arraignment, Schaffer was sent to Steuben County Jail
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
