A village of Bath resident has been arrested for allegedly pointing an illegal AR-15 semi-automatic assault weapon at a group of kids.
Police responded to the Bath school soccer field in the area of Maple Heights and Charles Street after receiving a call that claimed Daryck Rawleigh had brandished a firearm toward the juveniles. An investigation revealed a dispute between the 31-year-old and the kid that resulted in Rawleigh pointing the rifle in their direction. The weapon was recovered.
Rawleigh was taken into custody without incident and was charged with three counts of menacing, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon.
The Bath Village Police Department was assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
