SHARE NOW

An Auburn man attempted to take off on foot from a traffic stop that happened in the city Thursday night.

Auburn PD performed a traffic stop on a car driven by Nathan Burt after he was allegedly spotted driving without any of his headlights or tail lights on. After Burt pulled into a driveway on Seymour Street, he got out of the car and allegedly took off on foot. After a brief pursuit and struggle, Burt was taken into custody. Upon further investigation, Burt was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Burt was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and several traffic infractions.

Burt was processed and transported to Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
