An Auburn man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in the city.
A car driven by Darrel Love was pulled over on Perrine Street at Rock Avenue due to its inspection allegedly being expired. During the traffic stop, Auburn Police Officers observed Love discard a plastic bag out of the passenger side window of his car. Officers located the bag and found what appeared to be an illegal substance inside. The 45-year-old was taken into custody, at which time he was allegedly found to have a large amount of money as well.
Upon further investigation and testing, the substance in the plastic bag was determined to be powder cocaine.
Love was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and was released on an appearance ticket.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
