A Bath man was arrested Friday afternoon after a brief foot chase through several backyards in the village.
Police said officers spotted 34-year-old Dylan Henry near East William Street and Wilkes Avenue and recognized him as having an active warrant. When an officer approached Henry around 4:53 p.m. on March 6, he ran, leading police on a short pursuit through the East William Street and Gansevoort Street area.
Authorities located Henry in a backyard on East William Street and took him into custody without further incident. Police said the situation did not pose a danger to the public.
During processing, officers discovered Henry also had active warrants from the Corning Police Department and the New York State Police. He was also found to be subject to a full stay-away order of protection involving the woman he had been seen with prior to his arrest.
Henry was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, and criminal contempt in the second degree, all Class A misdemeanors. He was turned over to the New York State Police and transported to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment.
The Bath Police Department was assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office during the arrest.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
