A Phelps man is facing felony drug charges after Ontario County deputies say they found narcotics in his vehicle during a traffic stop on State Route 96.
The Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Michael Heidemann was pulled over for multiple traffic violations. Deputies determined he was impaired by drugs and took him into custody.
A search of the vehicle turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Heidemann is charged with third-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while impaired by drugs, and various traffic offenses.
He was taken to the Ontario County Jail and held pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
