SHARE NOW

On Thursday, Penn Yan Police arrested a 27-year-old local woman following a traffic stop in the village.

Angela Bruno was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated and felony Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or Greater. She was also issued tickets for Speed in Zone and Insufficient Turn Signal.

During the stop, officers allegedly observed several indicators of intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Police report that Bruno failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene.

After being taken into custody, Bruno voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test at the Yates County Jail, which revealed a blood alcohol content of .15%. Investigators discovered that Bruno had a prior conviction for Driving While Ability Impaired by drugs within the past 10 years, which elevated the current charges to the felony level.

Bruno was processed and released with appearance tickets for Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
