A joint investigation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office and the Public Assistance Fraud Unit resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old Penn Yan woman.
Kelly Dunning is accused of providing false information to the Department of Social Services, which resulted in her receiving more than $3,000 in benefits she was not entitled to. Dunning was arrested on five counts of offering a false instrument for filing, along with single counts of grand larceny and welfare fraud.
Dunning will answer the charges in Milo Town Court at a later date.
