A traffic stop in the village of Penn Yan resulted in the arrest of a Penn Yan woman.
Crystal Hamm was observed to be driving a car on Lawrence Street while having a headlight out at around 2:30 on Saturday morning. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with Hamm. While speaking with Hamm officers observed her to display several signs of intoxication. She was placed through a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which she subsequently failed.
Hamm was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail where she submitted to a chemical test, which revealed her blood alcohol content to be .15%.
Hamm was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated .08% or higher and driving without an adequate headlight.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
