SHARE NOW

The driver involved in a March crash that injured two children in Yates County has been charged.

Tracey Irwin of Penn Yan was driving west on State Route 364 in Benton when she drove off the north side of the road and struck a mailbox.

Her car then traveled up an embankment before coming back into the road. A nine-year-old passenger was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for head and neck pain and a seven-year-old was taken to the same hospital for chest pain.

The 51-year-old Irwin was not injured and as a result of their investigation, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office charged her with Aggravated DWI for having children in the car, DWAI drugs, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Irwin will appear in Benton Town Court to answer the charges.
