A 22-year-old Penn Yan woman has been charged after police say she left her seven-month-old child unattended outside an apartment.
According to Penn Yan Police, officers responded after receiving a report that a baby had been left in a common entry area of an apartment house. Investigators say Faith Roper allegedly left the child there following an argument with her ex-boyfriend. Police say the ex-boyfriend did not know the infant had been left outside and later found the baby crying.
Roper was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and released with an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
