A Penn Yan woman was taken into custody Monday after police executed four outstanding arrest warrants issued earlier this month.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, 50-year-old Michelle Downs was arrested at her residence without incident. The warrants, all issued on July 14, by the Village of Penn Yan Court, were related to multiple failures to appear in court.
Downs was transported to the Yates County Jail, where she is being held pending arraignment in the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
