A Penn Yan man is facing charges after police say a fight at a local bar ended with another person being cut with a knife.
After being called to the scene for a reported assault, officers discovered that 45-year-old Frederick Dillingham allegedly pulled out a knife during an argument and slashed another resident in the leg. The victim was injured, and police located Dillingham nearby a short time later.
He was taken into custody without incident. Dillingham is charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony, along with fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
