A Penn Yan man is accused of attempting to bite a Yates County Sheriff’s Deputy in the ear as he was being taken into custody.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday after 59-year-old Mario Feria-Morales was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on Skyline Drive in Jerusalem. While being taken into custody for allegedly driving drunk, Feria-Morales attempted to bite a deputy in the ear.
Feria-Morales was taken to Yates County Jail where he submitted to a chemical test. He was charged with harassment, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a .08 or higher BAC, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to obey a police officer, and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Feria-Morales was released on appearance tickets for Jerusalem Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
