A Penn Yan man was arrested by police after he turned himself in on a bench warrant issued out of Yates County Court.
The warrant charged 37-year-old Jeffery McClain with criminal contempt.
Following his arrest, McClain was taken into custody and later transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
