A larceny complaint at a business in Penn Yan resulted in the arrest of one of its employee.
Nicholas Sumpter, of Penn Yan, was accused by his employer of preparing food for self-consumption while working at a Penn Yan establishment and not pay for the food on two separate dates. According to Penn Yan Police, video evidence confirmed the allegations and Sumpter later admitted to not paying for the food.
The 34-year-old Sumpter was processed at the police department on a charge of petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket for Penn Yan Village Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
