A Penn Yan man was charged with DWI following a traffic stop in the Yates County village.
Bradley Smith was stopped on South Avenue in the village after officers observed the car he was driving had an expired inspection. During the traffic stop, police observed Smith to display several indicators of intoxication. The 65-year-old was placed through standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed. Smith was taken into custody for DWI and transported to the Yates County Public Safety Building where he submitted to a chemical breath test, which revealed his blood alcohol content to be .11 percent.
Smith was charged with DWI (.08 BAC or greater), drunken driving and uninspected motor vehicle and will answer the charges in the Village of Penn Yan Court.
