A Penn Yan man has been arrested in connection with a burglary investigation dating back to late 2023.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office reports that 33-year-old Kristoffer D. Johnson was arrested on a Superior Court warrant charging him with burglary in the third degree, a Class D felony.
Authorities say the charge stems from a December 2023 investigation into a burglary at a business on Old Ithaca Road in the Town of Horseheads. Deputies initially responded to the scene to investigate the complaint before turning the case over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
Following additional investigation and the execution of a search warrant, investigators identified Johnson as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently obtained.
Johnson was taken into custody and remanded to the Chemung County Jail. He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
