A Penn Yan driver was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian after police say she struck a person with her car.
Emma Scharping was driving west on North Avenue at around 6:30 Monday morning when she allegedly struck a person who was using the crosswalk at the intersection with Main Street with her car. The victim was treated on scene by Penn Yan Ambulance for a minor elbow injury.
Scharping was also ticketed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in village court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
