    Heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall hourly rates could exceed 2 inches per hour through the evening hours. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Pedestrian Ticketed After Being Hit By Car in Canandaigua

Police ticketed a person who was struck by a car while using a crosswalk in Ontario County Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at around 8 at the intersection of County Road 28 and State Route 332 in the town of Canandaigua. With the use of video footage, an investigation determined Irene Stephens was hit by a car that attempted to turn left from State Route 332 after she entered the crosswalk while the “Do Not Walk” traffic signal was lit. The 59-year-old Stephens was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, 55-year-old Sandra Packard, of Farmington, was not injured.

Stephens was issued a ticket for pedestrian proceeding into the path of a vehicle and will appear in Canandaigua Town Court.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Canandaigua Police, New York State Police, Canandaigua Fire and Canandaigua Ambulance
