According to Auburn Police, the woman was walking west across North Street at the intersection with Lansing Street when she was struck by a mid-sized four-door sedan that was traveling south at a high rate of speed and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic.

The driver of the car, Christopher Dewitt, also ran a stop light prior to striking the victim.
