A Palmyra teen was ticketed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department following their investigation into a three-car accident on State Route 31 in Arcadia.
16-year-old Cole Cowan was driving west when his car slid in snow and slush on the road and crossed over into the eastbound lane where it struck a car driven by Sarah Defranco, of Palmyra. Cowan’s vehicle then continued head-on into a second eastbound car driven by Kristen Davies of Williamson.
Davies was taken to Newark Wayne Community Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Defranco and Cowan were not injured.
Cowans was ticketed for speeding and failure to use a designated lane.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Newark Police, Newark Fire, Port Gibson Fire, Wayne County Ambulance and Seasonall Towing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
