The investigation into a one-car crash on North Creek Road in the town of Palmyra resulted in the arrest of a Palmyra man.
It is alleged that Lawrence Wedgwood drove off the road and flipped his car while attempting to turn into a driveway. As a result of the crash, Wedgwood and his passenger were trapped inside the car. The 60-year-old and his passenger were extracted from the car by the Palmyra Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
Through an investigation at the scene, deputies determined Wedgwood was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Wedgwood was charged with DWI and released on an appearance ticket for Palmyra Town Court.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Palmyra Town Fire Department.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
