A traffic stop in the village of Palmyra just after midnight Thursday morning resulted in the arrest of a Palmyra man.
It is alleged that David Griffith, Junior, was driving a car south on State Route 21 when he failed to signal before turning west onto East Main Street. While patrol was conducting a traffic stop, deputies smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car. Following an investigation, it was determined Griffith was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently placed under arrest. The 65-year-old was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for chemical testing, which yielded a result of 0.09% BAC.
Griffith was released on tickets to appear in Palmyra Village Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
