A Palmyra man is facing charges after police say he stole items from the Byrne Dairy on East Main Street over several days.
According to the Palmyra Police Department, officers responded to the store around 8:54 a.m. on July 24, after staff reported a series of thefts. By the time patrols arrived, the suspect had already fled the area.
Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect as John P. McMenamin, who was seen stealing on two separate occasions. Less than two hours later, police located McMenamin at his residence.
Authorities say McMenamin violently resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
He was charged with two counts of Petit Larceny and one count of Resisting Arrest. McMenamin was processed and released with appearance tickets. He’s scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
