An early morning traffic stop in the town of Ovid resulted in the arrest of an Ovid man.
According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, the arrest of 50-year-old John Halsey stems from a traffic stop where his vehicle was spotted crossing over the roadway median and not using sufficient turn signals. Upon further investigation, Halsey was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after field sobriety tests were administered. Halsey submitted to a chemical test via breath which allegedly resulted in a 0.12% BAC.
Halsey was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on an appearance ticket for Ovid Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
