The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Town of Ontario man following an investigation into a September 23, 2025, crash on State Route 104 in Sodus.
Deputies say 68-year-old Charles Downing was allegedly driving under the influence of cocaine when he failed to stay in his lane and crashed into a ditch near PreEmption Road. No injuries were reported.
Downing is charged with DWAI–Drugs, moving from lane unsafely, improper left turn, and failure to notify the DMV of a change of address.
He was processed at the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Sodus Town Court on December 10.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
