A Steuben County man faces charges after leading police on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour and came to an end when OnStar remotely disabled the car. Joseph Hannacker, Junior, is accused of driving a stolen car in Addison. After he failed to pull over for a traffic stop, the 30-year-old Corning man drove at speeds of over 100 miles per hour and drove on a sidewalk before crashing into a guardrail after the car became disabled.
Hannacker was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a class D Felony, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in the Third Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving, Driving While Ability is Impaired due to Drugs, Operating without a License, Speed in Zone, Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign, Moved from Lane Unsafely and No Seatbelt Driver.
Hannacker was treated and released by a medical facility for minor injuries.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
