The investigation into the report of a larceny in progress at the Dollar General store in Williamson resulted in the arrest of a Norwich man.
It is alleged that Vincent Hickling grabbed a shopping basket and walked through the store filling it with various items. Hickling then took the basket full of items valued at $139.59 and proceeded past all points of sale without paying for them. Hickling left the store in a car and was found a short time later by deputies.
Hickling was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket for Williamson Town Court.
All of the items taken from Dollar General were returned.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
