A New Jersey man is facing charges after allegedly attempting a fraudulent return at a department store in Victor.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Haroon Ibrahim of Union, NJ, was taken into custody on Wednesday following a complaint at Von Maur in the Eastview Mall. Investigators say Ibrahim selected merchandise in the store, then completed a return without ever paying for the items—resulting in a $125 loss for the retailer.
Ibrahim was charged with Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree and Petit Larceny. He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
