Newark Woman Accused of Giving False Name to Police

SHARE NOW

A traffic stop in the town of Lyons early Friday morning resulted in arrest of a 32-year-old Newark woman.

It is alleged that during the traffic stop, deputies attempted to identify Angelica Alicea but she gave a false name. Alicea was advised that giving false identification would be a crime and she continued to lie to deputies. It was later confirmed during the investigation that Alicea had been lying to deputies and was correctly identified to be Angelica Alicea, who had an outstanding warrant for Family Court.

Alicea was arrested for criminal impersonation and obstructing governmental administration.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
