A Newark man is charged with petit larceny after police say he purchased cases of water using his SNAP benefits at the Newark Wegmans.
It is alleged that 36-year-old Stephen Lancaster dumped the water out of the bottles in the store’s parking lot in order to get the money from the bottle deposit. Lancaster told police he used the money to purchase alcohol.
Lancaster was released on an appearance ticket.
