A traffic stop in the town of Lyons Thursday night resulted in the arrest of a Newark man.
During the traffic stop conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, it was discovered the driver, 36-year-old Stephen Walker, was allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. Upon further investigation, Walker was placed under arrest. According to the sheriff’s office, Walker had a BAC of .17%.
Walker was charged with driving while intoxicated, common law, driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08% and higher, and other traffic and vehicle violations.
Walker will appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
