SHARE NOW

On Sunday, Nathan Derr Jr., age 20, of Newark, was arrested by deputies and State Police following a reported disturbance involving a weapon on West Main Street in the village of Shortsville.

The arrest followed an investigation into an ongoing dispute between two groups that allegedly began the night prior. According to authorities, Derr produced a CO2 pistol during a second altercation on Sunday evening. Investigators determined that Derr is currently on probation for a previous criminal conviction and was in the presence of an individual protected by an active order of protection at the time of the incident.

Derr was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree and Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
