Over the past two weeks, authorities in Seneca County have fielded numerous calls about receiving counterfeit $100 bills. On Tuesday, Sheriff Tim Thompson reported that 55-year-old Arcangel Soler, of Waterloo, was arrested on two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, petit larceny and scheme to defraud.
Soler’s arrest stems from an incident that occurred at a Town of Waterloo Business where it is alleged he did utter a counterfeit $100 bill in exchange for goods and was provided U.S. currency as change to the transaction. Soler returned to the business on a later date and attempted to do the same. In addition to the above charges Soler was also charged with False Personation. It is alleged that on June 25, Soler provided Sheriff’s Deputies with a false name and date of birth following a traffic stop in the Town of Waterloo.
Soler was arraigned at Seneca County CAP Court where he was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility.
