A Naples woman is facing multiple charges, including felony aggravated DWI and child endangerment, after being stopped by Yates County deputies on Route 245 in the Town of Italy Wednesday evening.
Deputies say 33-year-old Alissa Cota was pulled over around 7:05 p.m. after her vehicle was observed operating erratically. A child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Investigators say Cota showed signs of intoxication and failed a series of field sobriety tests. She later recorded a blood alcohol content above 0.18%. Deputies also allege she attempted to physically obstruct them during the arrest.
Cota was charged with felony Aggravated DWI with a child under 16 in the vehicle, Aggravated DWI, Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration, along with several traffic violations.
She was taken to the Yates County Jail for processing and held for centralized arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
