Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Hitting School Bus in Southern Tier

A motorcyclist is listed in critical condition after being involved in a collision with a school bus on Tuesday afternoon.

According to New York State Police, the 61-year-old Chenango County man was traveling west in the town of Oxford when he collided with a northbound school bus from the Oxford Academy and Central School District. The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 35/ State Route 220 and County Road 32 in Oxford at around 3:35 p.m.

The unidentified motorcyclist was taken to Upstate Hospital for treatment of his undisclosed injuries.

The school bus had eight children on board, ages 10 to 14. A 12-year-old child was evaluated at Chenango Memorial Hospital, no other children reported injuries. The operator of the school bus, a 58-year-old male of Sherburne, and an aide who is a 54-year-old female of Greene, were both evaluated on scene.
