The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Moravia man has been charged following a single-car crash late Monday night in the Town of Locke.
Deputies say 21-year-old Darek Delaney was the only person in a vehicle that left the roadway on Route 90 and struck a utility pole just before midnight, breaking the pole in half. Delaney was taken to Auburn Hospital by Four Town Ambulance, where he was treated for minor injuries and provided a blood sample.
After investigating the crash, deputies arrested Delaney and charged him with first-offense DWI, DWI Per Se, speeding, and unsafe lane change. He was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and issued traffic tickets.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
